The Sacromonte Abbey, in Granada, is a place of great architectural and symbolic strength, where any renovation must be approached with respect for the building, its context and the material identity that defines it. In this project, wood carpentry plays a particularly important role, not only because of its constructive function, but also because of its ability to integrate naturally into architecture full of history.
For this project, DJ68 Series windows in walnut-stained laminated pine were used, a solution that responds to the demands of a singular setting from a technical, architectural and material perspective. The choice of wood, far from being merely aesthetic, reinforces the coherence of the whole and helps maintain a balanced relationship between traditional construction and the current needs of the space.
Working on a building such as the Sacromonte Abbey means understanding that every element added forms part of a broader architectural reading. The façade, the openings, the proportion of the spans and the way light falls on the materials all create a distinctive atmosphere that does not allow for solutions disconnected from the character of the place.
