Wooden Windows in Granada | Hotel Áurea Catedral Restoration

Wooden Windows in Granada | Hotel Áurea Catedral Restoration

The restoration of historic buildings requires solutions that preserve the architectural value of the property while meeting today's standards for comfort, energy efficiency and thermal performance.

In projects of this nature, exterior timber joinery plays a key role by combining outstanding technical performance with a design that respects the building's original architecture.

At Carinbisa, we have more than 40 years of experience manufacturing wooden windows, wooden French doors and bespoke timber joinery for heritage restoration projects, hotels and landmark buildings, delivering fully customised solutions for every project.

Restoration of Hotel Áurea Catedral Granada

One of the projects in which we have participated is the restoration of Hotel Áurea Catedral Granada, located in the historic centre of Granada, next to the city's Cathedral.

The urban development was promoted by Diana Hotelera, S.A., the developer responsible for the Detailed Planning Study of Development Unit A-6 "Villamena", included within Granada's PEPRI Historic Centre Plan and approved by Granada City Council in 2015.

The planning document was prepared by ELE2F Arquitectos S.L.P..

Following the restoration, the hotel opened its doors in 2018 under the management of Eurostars Hotel Company, part of the Grupo Hotusa.

Wooden windows for historic buildings

The hotel is located within the protected area surrounding Granada Cathedral, which has been designated a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC). As a result, every intervention must respect the architectural character of the building and its integration into the historic environment.

Projects of this type require every window to be individually manufactured.

The irregular openings commonly found in historic buildings demand precise surveying and bespoke manufacturing, ensuring that every timber window is perfectly adapted to the existing façade while preserving the building's original appearance.

This project reflects our expertise in historic building restoration, where every solution is designed to meet the architectural, technical and aesthetic requirements of each individual property.

Comfort, insulation and respect for heritage architecture

In addition to preserving the building's original appearance, timber windows can incorporate modern solutions that enhance thermal and acoustic insulation, improving comfort and energy efficiency without compromising the architectural character of the property.

Our experience in manufacturing wooden windows for restoration projects enables us to create bespoke solutions that combine traditional craftsmanship, engineering precision and modern performance, meeting the specific requirements of every historic building.
