Four Seasons Hotel Madrid | V92 Wooden Windows in a Full Renovation Project

Four Seasons Hotel Madrid | V92 Wooden Windows in a Full Renovation Project

At the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, wood joinery forms part of one of those interventions where architecture, heritage and technical requirements must move forward in balance. The project is part of the full renovation of the group of buildings occupying the entire block between Calle Alcalá, Calle Sevilla, Plaza Canalejas and Carrera de San Jerónimo, a major urban intervention in the heart of Madrid.

Within this context, the solution developed by Carinbisa focused on the wooden windows on the historic façade, with approximately 300 units produced using the V92 Series in laminated pine, with an acoustic two-tone finish.

The varnish combines RAL 7015 grey on the exterior and NCS S 0500-N white on the interior, a choice that responds both to the architectural reading of the façade and to the interior atmosphere of the building. This is an especially representative project because of its scale, the singular nature of its setting and the need to combine heritage recovery with contemporary standards of comfort, insulation and durability.

A full renovation in Madrid: wood joinery for a historic façade

Speaking about the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid means speaking about a highly complex renovation in one of the city’s most emblematic locations. In a project of this nature, exterior joinery cannot be understood as an isolated element: it forms part of the building’s identity, its urban presence and the way heritage adapts to new uses without losing its character.

The intervention on the historic façade required a solution capable of preserving the architectural coherence of the ensemble while also meeting the contemporary needs of the building. In this regard, renovations with wooden windows in Madrid continue to play a particularly relevant role in works where materiality, proportion and the expression of the enclosure are an essential part of the final result.

Wood brings a quality that is difficult to replace in projects of this kind. Its warmth, material authenticity and ability to integrate naturally into heritage buildings make it an especially suitable choice for high-level renovation works.

V92 Series in laminated pine: a solution designed to combine architecture and performance

For this intervention, the V92 Series was selected, a wooden window solution able to respond solidly to projects with demanding architectural requirements. Its application on the historic façade of the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid reinforces the idea of joinery conceived as part of the architectural project, rather than as a mere technical component.

Manufacturing in laminated pine provides stability, uniformity and appropriate performance for a project of this nature. Visually, the wood retains an elegant and understated presence, fully compatible with the building’s architecture and with the need to care for every detail in a large-scale heritage renovation.

One of the most significant aspects of the project is the acoustic two-tone finish, resolved with RAL 7015 grey on the exterior and NCS S 0500-N white on the interior. This combination addresses two complementary needs:

  • Preserving an exterior reading consistent with the composition of the historic façade and its urban context.
  • Bringing brightness, neutrality and visual continuity to the interior spaces.
  • Integrating technical performance without altering the architectural essence of the ensemble.

Acoustic comfort in central Madrid: the value of a well-resolved enclosure

In an urban environment as active as central Madrid, acoustic insulation becomes essential. In buildings intended for high-end hotel use, interior comfort depends not only on design or on the quality of visible materials, but also on the enclosure’s ability to protect the space from outside noise.

That is why the glazing configuration used in this project is particularly relevant: 66.2 acoustic / 24 / 44.2 acoustic. Beyond the technical specification, this composition reflects a decision clearly focused on interior wellbeing and on the quality of use of the building.

The window therefore ceases to be only a façade element and becomes something that shapes the spatial experience. It filters the sound of the city, improves the sense of calm indoors and helps create an atmosphere consistent with the project’s level of demand.

300 wooden windows to recover the identity of an emblematic urban ensemble

The scale of the project further reinforces its value. The intervention covered all the wooden windows on the historic façade, around 300 units, placing this work on a particularly significant scale within renovation projects involving wood joinery.

This is not only a singular project because of the prestige of the building, but also because of the need to maintain a coherent and precise response throughout a large architectural ensemble. In interventions of this type, repetition does not simplify the work: on the contrary, it demands technical consistency, finish control and the ability to maintain the same level of detail in every installed unit.

The project was developed together with Lamela Arquitectos and OHLA, whose involvement also makes clear the architectural and construction demands of the work. Collaboration between design, execution and specialised joinery is essential when intervening in urban heritage with a contemporary purpose.

Wood joinery as an active part of architecture

At Carinbisa, we understand wood joinery as an active part of architecture. The Four Seasons Hotel Madrid project shows how well-resolved wooden windows can contribute to the recovery of a historic façade, improve interior comfort and reinforce the identity of an emblematic building while respecting its original character.

In renovations of this level, the difference lies in technical precision, material quality and the ability to integrate current performance standards without altering the essence of the architecture.
