In the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, in the picturesque municipality of Bolvir (Girona), stands the impressive La Torre de Bolvir, a medieval structure dating back to the 13th century. Located in the Raval del Castell district, this historic tower has been carefully restored, blending respect for its original architecture with contemporary solutions for comfort and energy efficiency.
Heritage restoration with noble materials
The rehabilitation project preserved the prism-shaped volume of the building, its arched stone doorway, and the distinctive vertically aligned windows on its façade. The tower has a rectangular floor plan, distributed across four levels with an upper attic covered by a hipped roof. Outside, a terrace with stairs connects the tower to the adjacent complex, which includes the former barn and other rural annexes.
Wooden windows: tradition, design, and efficiency
One of the key elements in this restoration was the choice of custom-made wooden windows, installed by Carinbisa. High-quality windows were selected that respect the rustic aesthetics of the surroundings while ensuring the thermal and acoustic insulation required by high-mountain climates.
The wooden windows in La Torre de Bolvir not only bring warmth and character to the architectural ensemble, but are also a sustainable solution, ideal for restoration projects that prioritize harmony with original materials.
